ANNUAL DAY REPORT-2009

 

I, feel extremely proud to present the annual report of the Polytechnic, I.T.C and Community Polytechnic for the year 2008-2009.

 

At this point , I take this opportunity to pay our profound respect to our cherished founder Rev. Fr. C. Rodrigues, whose dreams , visions and ideals are deeply imbedded in our institutions and whose footsteps we are still following.

 

The society of St. Francis Xavier is a multifaceted trust well equipped to cater to educational and social needs by judiciously combining the resources at their disposal. The society has technical education complexes at various locations like Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Goa, New Delhi, Pune and Ambernath. There are around 25000 students persuing education in various levels at various campus of Fr. Agnel. There are around 2500 employees working with Fr. Agnels all over India.

 

Fr. Agnel Technical education Complex at Bandra houses school at pre primary, primary, secondary senior secondary and Higher secondary levels, ITC and trade courses, Polytechnic and engineering college with more than 6000 students enrolled for various programs. There are over 400 staff employed in this complex.

 

Let me begin with the annual report of Agnel I.T.C. for the year 2008-2009.

The Fr. Agnel I.T.C was established in the year 1961 in this complex by Late Rev. Fr. C. Rodrigues. This institute is offering 2 years vocational courses in the trades of Draughtsman(mechanical) , Fitter, Electrician and Motor mechanic. Over 300 students

 

are trained every year. students have performed very well in the thier final year exams conducted by NCTVT. Industrial visits were arranged for the trade course students to Air India ,BEST workshop etc. Over 80% students are recruited through campus

interview in various reputed industries like L&T, Godrej, Mahindra & Mahindra Seimens, BEST undertaking, Toyota, Tata Motors etc.

Our institute received B grade in DVET inspection for the year 2008-2009.

 

Extra curricular and co-curricular activities were conducted throughout the year. ITC sports were conducted on 9th, 10th, and 11th at Bhavans college ground.

 

These events were well managed by the students council members Mr. Vignesh, Mr. Lemual and Mr. Sagar under the guidance of students council Chairman Mr. Mustaq Malgundkar.

 

Now the annual report of the Polytechnic for the year 2008-2009.

The Agnel Technical college with Diploma in Production engg was established in the year 1969 in our Bandra Complex. The college was granted academic autonomy in the year 1987 by govt. of maharashtra in appreciation of its all round excellence. Under autonomy the college was given the freedom to devise its own curriculum, conduct its own examinations and award its own certificate approved by DTE.

 

In the year 1997 college implemented multipoint entry and credit system. With this a student can complete the course in his own pace.

In the year 2005 college was granted accreditation for 5 years by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.

In the last 20 years our college has revised and modernized the diploma curriculum 6 times with active participation of industry experts.

 

With the state of the art infrastructure and a highly skilled and dedicated faculty and supporting staff, the college has been and is still providing outstanding technical expertise to its customers. The syllabus is designed to train the students in supervisory and middle management level in areas of production, design, marketing , planning etc.

 

The curriculum is enriched with latest trends in technology like CAD/CAM, CNC machines , CIM, mechatronics etc.

 

On the academic front the college is improving the performance year after year. Many of the final year students passed out got admission for degree programs. Many

students got employment through campus interviews in various reputed industries like L&T, Mahindra and Mahindra, Aicher Damm etc.

 

Industrial visits were arranged for 1st year and 2nd year students. All the training, placement and industrial visits were arranged by our Training and placement officer in charge Mr. R.S.Gondhalekar.

 

On the extra curricular co curricular front a lot of activities were arranged this year.

A number of indoor games were arranged in the college campus during this period. The Annual sports meet was arranged at Bhavans College ground on 19th and 20th of January 2009. Our students actively participated in all the sports events. The events were well managed by the sports secretaries Mr. Lay Lobo,Mr. Angush Nasare and others.

A mini marathon race and sports for staff were arranged on 7th Feb 2009. Most of the staff members of Polytechnic and ITC participated in the events.

 

A students picnic was arranged to Alibaug on 12th and 13th of December 2008. Students enthusiastically took part in this picnic.

Our final year students participated in the annual welding seminal organized by The Indian Welding Society on 16th January 2009. The theme of the seminar was Enhanced welding productivity.

A workshop on Advanced welding machines was organized by Keempi Holland. Our students participated in this workshop.

A lecture was conducted by Mr. D.S Honavar on Career and opportunities in welding.

 

The wall magazine activity is receiving good response & is well coordinated by magazine secretary Mr. Ashwin Parab.

 

All the extra curricular and co curricular activities for the year 2008-2009 were being organized and conducted under the able guidance of the students council chairman Prof. Sunil R Anande.

 

Next the annual report of Community Polytechnic.

Fr. Agnel Community Polytechnic has been imparting Vocational Training to drop out, unemployed, below averaged, underprivileged urban & rural youths by establishing Extension Centers since 1983.

 

During the year 2008-2009 over 750 youths in different vocational trades at various extension centers situated at Goveli, (Kalyan Taluka), Nirmal, (Vasai Taluka), Ghansoli (Navi Mumbai), Zidake (Bhiwandi Taluka), Ambernath (Ambernath Taluka) & Vashind (Shahapur Taluka), Mumbra and Shahapur are being trained.

More than 12000 school drop-out from rural & semi-urban areas in 30 different trades have been trained so far by us since 1983.

 

We have opened a new Extension Center in Mumbra near Thane, in Collaboration with Modern Educational Social Cultural Organization (MESCO) from August 2008.

 

Another Extension Center is opened at Shahapur in collaboration with Archana Trust.

 

Todays annual day celebration Aavishkar 2009 is being organized by the active participation of all students council members of Polytechnic and ITC with the able guidance from the students council chairmen Mr. Sunil R Anande of Polytechnic and Mr. Mustaq Malgundkar of I.T.C.with the active support from Mr. Jaywant Raut, Head of community Polytechnic activities
